FAQs about Botox

BOTOX Cosmetic is a popular aesthetic skin treatment and can help smooth lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, along the nose and mouth, across the forehead, at the corners of the eyes and more. At Visione 360 Eye and Cosmetic Institute in El Paso, Dr. Dennis Reiter uses BOTOX on adults between 18 and 65, yielding excellent results. Read answers to some common questions about BOTOX Cosmetic and how it works.

What exactly is BOTOX Cosmetic?

This FDA-approved medication is a super-purified form of the Botulism toxin. As a medical-grade pharmaceutical, BOTOX limits the action of facial muscles which cause dynamic wrinkling. Reduce muscular movement, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. That's the therapeutic effect of BOTOX.

What areas of the face does it treat?

BOTOX is used on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, at the sides of the mouth and on the lips. Injections are brief and cause only a mild stinging sensation.

How long do the effects last?

Typically, patients see changes in their lines and wrinkles the day of treatment. Full therapeutic effects take up to a week. They last up to four months and then are repeated as you and Dr. Reiter deem helpful and appropriate.

Can BOTOX be used with other facial rejuvenation treatments?

Yes, it can. For instance, some patient elect Juvederm facial fillers for static lines and wrinkles which do not respond to BOTOX.
